What the locals drink in Mexico
Among experts there is a long discussion regarding the concentration of aromas in raw materials - grapes are the world's leading, but in second place is probably the agave - that plant that looks like a cactus but is a type of asparagus from which tequila is produced, and it turns out - not only tequila but many other distillates. The Mexicans don't bother to age their spirits in barrels - it's a custom of the gringos, the locals - the tapitio's - drink their tequila, mezcal, becanora, reisilia, and sotol as white as it came out of the distillery - so the unique flavors and aromas of the agave are most prominent. Join us for an experiential tasting trip on the terroir of agave distillates, where the differences between tequila and mezcal are just the beginning - and we'll start talking about the differences between tequila and tequila, and mezcal to mezcal and what creates these differences.
Tasting:
- Ocho Blanco
- Fortaleza Blanco
- Don Fulano Blanco
- Montelobos mescal
- Vago mescal
